Aerospace and Starburst Host Space Tech Startup Event

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (March 14, 2017) – The Aerospace Corporation (Aerospace), a leader in space technology and Starburst Accelerator, the leading global aerospace startup accelerator, co-hosted an event on March 21 where aerospace startups developing the latest innovative space technology presented their aerospace technology pitches to approximately 200 industry leaders.

This accelerator event took place at Aerospace’s El Segundo headquarters and helped to identify technologies being developed by new space and non-traditional commercial companies that have the potential to deliver affordable and resilient space capabilities. Aerospace and Starburst are partnering to accelerate the process of bringing these latest technological advances to industry leaders and government stakeholders, which can benefit both government and civilian space needs.

“We were ecstatic to partner with The Aerospace Corporation for our first LA accelerator event of 2017,” said Vandad Espahbodi, COO of Starburst Accelerator. “The opportunities in aerospace and space are limitless and we are looking forward to discovering which startups will push boundaries and help advance the industry even further.”

Steve Isakowitz, Aerospace president and CEO, addressed the audience on the state of innovation in the space sector. Afterwards, almost a dozen start-ups took the stage to pitch their ideas on potential revolutionary space technologies. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to network while visiting exhibition booths featuring the latest in space innovation by Aerospace Corporation staff and successful start-up companies.

“We are seeing an unprecedented rate of change in our industry,” Isakowitz said. “I am excited we hosted this Starburst Accelerator event and to further connect with the commercial sector on some exceptional emerging technologies. Together, we can better address the nation’s growing need for rapid insertion of innovative solutions to tough problems.”
