What are you working on at Aerospace?
I work on propulsion technology maturation efforts such as analysis, development and testing, software development, experiments, and additive manufacturing to help the Air Force and the industry as the next generation of propulsion systems and launch vehicles are developed.

What is a typical day like for you at Aerospace?
I like to start my day with a quick check of space/launch related media to stay on top of breaking news. I lead and collaborate with technical teams for my projects so I tag up with them to make sure we’re on track to meet our goals. I also work with and support multiple government teams to provide technical recommendations to contribute to project/mission success.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?
Working with subject matter experts to identify issues early during development, collaborating with government and industry, and to investigate solutions to challenges anticipated in the development of the next generation of propulsion systems. Seeing a successful development or test where the team and I have helped with is an incredible feeling.

Tell us one thing nobody would guess about you.
I’m a hockey fan. I try to catch a game, regardless of the team, when I am on travel.

What excites you about the aerospace industry and space today?
This level of propulsion system development and innovation in the aerospace industry is incredible. I went to the beach near El Segundo recently to watch a launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, and there were many families there to watch the launch. I first assumed they must know someone in the launch business, but many said they had heard about it on the news or have personal interest. This is a great time to inspire the next generation, and I am excited to have a role in shaping the future.

Would you be willing to colonize Mars if it meant never returning to Earth?
“Will I be able to get good sushi?” is a question I ask myself when making many life decisions. So, my answer will have to be no for now.
