Dr. Aimee A. Hubble

Director Propulsion Science Department

Dr. Aimee A. Hubble is the director of the Propulsion Science Department at The Aerospace Corporation, managing world-class laboratory facilities for electric and chemical propulsion testing. Her group works to enable the development of propulsion technologies that support national security space (NSS) as well as the commercial and civil sector, spanning from launch and booster technology to in-space electric and chemical propulsion.

Hubble joined Aerospace in 2013 as a member of the technical staff and has done work in electric propulsion, low temperature plasma physics, high power radio frequency (RF)/microwave breakdown, and secondary electron material effects. Hubble also served as principal investigator of the Aerospace Multipactor Laboratory, where she worked a number of critical RF breakdown issues for a wide range of NSS, civil, and commercial customers.

In 2020, Hubble joined the Research and Technology Collaboration office in the Physical Sciences Laboratories (PSL) as a project leader, providing leadership and management for the PSL commercial and scientific grant portfolio as well as the promotion of PSL capabilities.

Education

Hubble earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics in 2008 and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering in 2010 from the University of Michigan. She earned a doctorate degree in nuclear engineering with a focus on plasma physics in 2013, also from the University of Michigan.
