Glenn McKeown

Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary

Glenn McKeown is senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary at The Aerospace Corporation. He assumed this position on September 26, 2022. His responsibilities include providing legal advice and counsel at the senior management level, managing corporate transactions of the board of trustees and its committees, and maintaining custody of the corporate records.

Before joining Aerospace, McKeown was general counsel at Argonne National Laboratory, where he was the chief legal officer for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Science multi-program laboratory operated by UChicago Argonne LLC, an affiliate of the University of Chicago. In that position, he managed a legal department providing support in practice areas that included intellectual property and technology transfer; complex government and commercial contracts; labor and employment; environmental law; procurement; safety, security, and health; and litigation. He additionally provided legal advice and counsel for laboratory management and staff, conferred with university officers, provided risk assessments to the laboratory’s governing board, and interacted with DOE attorneys and officials on legal and compliance matters.

Previously, McKeown was associate general counsel at the University of Chicago’s Office of Legal Counsel, where he supported the university’s role as manager and operator of two of the world’s foremost research laboratories (Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory). Serving as a transactional attorney, McKeown interacted with academic and administrative officers of the university to provide advice on legal, policy, and strategic issues as well as managing outside counsel.

Prior to that, McKeown was a transactional attorney at Sears, Roebuck and Co. with extensive involvement in contract preparation and negotiations, and served as principal legal counsel for several business units of BP plc’s North American marketing and refining group.

McKeown began his legal career as a judicial clerk at the United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, in New Orleans.

EDUCATION

 

McKeown earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia College, Columbia University; a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government; and a juris doctor from Harvard Law School.

AFFILIATIONS

McKeown is a member of the American Bar Association and a former president and director of the Department of Energy Contractor Attorneys’ Association.
