Prime Focus is a prototype automated SDA node using Aerospace’s 1 m AeroTel telescope, which has a range of existing instrumentation developed specifically for the SDA mission. Prime Focus aims to serve as a testbed for scheduling, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and image postprocessing, and will provide a sustained data flow to external data centers. This provides a discoverable SDA resource, in a modern cloud context, to government customers, commercial partners, and other research institutions for real-time decision support.
