Update: The New Actors in Space Workshop has concluded. Read the summary here.

The rapidly growing number of space actors and space activities is resulting in increased technological innovation, lower costs, and greater access to beneficial satellite capabilities and services. However, this may also exacerbate current threats to the long-term sustainability of space—including on-orbit crowding, radio-frequency interference, or the possibility of space incidents sparking or escalating geopolitical tensions on Earth.

The New Actors in Space Workshop hosted by the Space Safety Institute will cover material contained in the New Actors in Space Handbook compiled by the Secure World Foundation and will feature real-time consideration of case studies and discussions on international space policy and legal issues, national space policy and regulations, and responsible space operations. The workshop is intended to reach two categories of space stakeholders:

  • National governments which are beginning to develop national space policies and regulations
  • Startup companies, universities, and all other entities beginning their first forays into space activities

The Aerospace Corporation and Secure World Foundation will provide participants with a certificate documenting their completion of the workshop upon request.

Workshop Schedule:
Tuesday, February 1: 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Eastern Time)
