Aerospace Elects the Honorable William Ballard Hurd to Board of Trustees

Chantilly, Va., June 19, 2025 – The Aerospace Corporation (Aerospace) elected the Honorable William Ballard Hurd, former member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing Texas’ 23rd district, to its Board of Trustees on June 11, 2025.

Hurd is currently the chief strategy officer at CHAOS Industries, a defense technology start-up that creates detection and monitoring solutions for defense and critical industries.

“As space evolves into a highly contested domain, Mr. Hurd’s leadership and expertise across commercial technology, national security and public policy strengthen our ability to deliver on our critical mission for the nation,” said Steve Isakowitz, Aerospace president and chief executive officer. “His experience on Capitol Hill, in the intelligence community and with the innovator economy will provide valuable insights as we advance warfighter readiness and strengthen the nation’s superiority in an increasingly dynamic space environment.”

During his three terms as a member of the House of Representatives, Hurd was a leading congressional voice on matters of technology and named chair of the Information Technology Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which focuses in part on cybersecurity. He also served on the House Committee on Appropriations and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Prior to his political career, Hurd worked for nine years in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Hurd is a member of the board of ICON Technology, Inc. a construction technology company; Personal AI, a software development platform; the Center for European Policy Analysis, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, public policy institution; and the Council on Foreign Relations, an independent think tank.
