Dr. George E. Pollock IV

Principal Director Enterprise and Design Subdivision

 

Dr. George Pollock IV is the principal director of the Enterprise Design Subdivision in the Enterprise Effects Division at The Aerospace Corporation. In this role, he leads a nationwide team of system designers, mission integrators, and enterprise system engineers supporting national security, civil, and commercial space missions.

Previously, Pollock served as principal director of the Architecture and Design Subdivision and prior to that, as director of the Astrodynamics Department. His professional emphases include space security capabilities and cislunar missions, satellite constellation design, rendezvous and proximity operations, and advanced mission concept development.

Pollock joined Aerospace in 2005 as an associate member of the technical staff (MTS) in the Astrodynamics Department and, in 2010, was promoted to MTS. In 2013, he was promoted to project engineer in the Space Superiority Systems Directorate. In 2015, Pollock transferred to the System Performance, Estimation, and Algorithms Department within the Architecture and Design Subdivision in the Systems Engineering Division, where he was promoted to senior engineering specialist in 2016. In 2017, he was promoted to associate director of the Astrodynamics Department, leading the organization’s expansion in Colorado Springs. He then served as director of the Astrodynamics Department from 2021 through 2023, and as principal director of the Architecture and Design Subdivision from 2023 through 2024. 

Pollock is the coauthor (along with Professor James Longuski and Dr. Felix Hoots) of Introduction to Orbital Perturbations, a textbook published in 2022 by Springer Nature.

Education

Pollock earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Purdue University.

Affiliations

Pollock currently serves as the corporation's lead for University Partnership Program activities with Purdue University and is a member of the Purdue AAE Industry Advisory Council. He was a member of the inaugural class of the Aerospace Early Career Development Network in 2014 and the inaugural class of Accelerate 3 in 2019. Pollock previously served on the Value Team in support of the Aerospace Chieft Strategist's Office. He was the founding leader of the Aerospace Technical Investment Program Cislunar Ventures research line and co-lead of the corporate team for cislunar ecosystems integration, both of which focused on enhancing Aerospace capabilities in support of space missions beyond geosynchronous Earth orbit.

Awards

In recognition of his achievements, Pollock received Aerospace's Corporate Innovation Award in 2019 and the President's Achievement Award in 2024.
