Aerospace Awarded First Direct Contract by NNSA for $79M

To support the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) mission in keeping U.S. nuclear deterrence as a cornerstone of national security and global stability, Aerospace was awarded its first direct contract from NNSA valued at approximately $79 million.

Aerospace will provide systems engineering and integration support as well as independent technical and programmatic analysis to support recapitalization of the nation’s nuclear capabilities for NNSA’s Office of Defense Programs (DP) and Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN).

This five-year cost-plus-fixed-fee contract award continues Aerospace’s longstanding independent reviews, assessments of life-extension programs, and surveillance to the nuclear weapons stockpile. Additional work includes warhead integration for the ground-based strategic deterrent.

“We remain deeply committed to continuing to support the future of our nation’s nuclear programs by partnering with NNSA to support critical nuclear deterrence missions,” said Edward Swallow, senior vice president of Aerospace’s Civil Systems Group. “This direct contract strengthens the federally funded research and development center relationship with NNSA by leveraging the company’s technical capabilities across the nuclear enterprise that draws upon our 60 years of supporting National Security Space.”

Aerospace’s work in Albuquerque is key to supporting the Department of Defense’s (DOD) deterrence mission with the goal of protecting our national security from adversarial threats and maintaining nuclear deterrence. Additionally, Aerospace employees continue to support the Space-Based Nuclear Detonation Detection (SNDD) program for DNN, integrating the NNSA components with the DOD Nuclear Detection System and providing technical, and programmatic support for proliferation detection research and development.
